DEATH IN PORNLAND: Starlets who met an early end in smut biz

A since debunked report suggested that the average life expectancy of a porn star was just 37 years.

While the anti-porn crusaders missed the mark with that factoid, the truth is women and men in the industry do die young at an alarming rate.

Following the death of violent porn entrepreneur Max Hardcore (Paul Little) in 2023, activist Helen Taylor, of Exodus Cry, noted the mortality rate for porn stars is sky-high. Suicide is prevalent.

“Former porn star Joshua Brown told us that the majority of his friends in the business are no longer alive, most dead from drug overdoses,” Taylor said. “It’s cause and effect, most need life-long therapy.”

Many of the young women who enter the business with stars in their eyes soon discover the industry is rife with abuse. Many are already sex assault victims or have been abused in their childhoods.

The latest victim two weeks ago was Kagney Linn Karter, 36, who had retired from the business and moved to Ohio to open up a pole dancing studio. She had struggled with mental health issues like many of her co-stars.

By the time she retired, the star of All About Kagney Linn Karter, Bad Girls 4, Diary of a Nanny 6, and 900 other videos had found she could never escape the sordid events in the San Fernando Valley.

Karter shot herself in the head.

THANIA FIELDS – 24

411: The pretty Peruvian was traumatized by her past and present. Friends say she was in desperate need of therapy. Instead, on Jan. 6, she killed herself. A year before her death she had complained about being sexually abused by porn power brokers.

SOPHIE ANDERSON – 36

411: The Brit beauty (Eye of the Cuckold, Lil Humpers) died on Nov. 18 in a widely suspected suicide. Friends had earlier claimed she had been “stabbed, abused and trafficked for sex” by her former soccer star boyfriend turned porn star, Oliver Spedding. He died two weeks earlier. Spedding was 34.

JESSE JANE – 43

411: Jane (Body Heat, Top Guns) and her boyfriend Brett Hasenmuller were both found dead at her Oklahoma home of a suspected overdose on Jan. 24. She had a 24-year-old son from her first marriage. Jane struggled with drugs, booze and the law.

AUGUST AMES – 23

411: The Canadian starlet killed herself after being pummelled by abuse after refusing to work with a male actor who had done gay or “crossover” porn. As a result, Twitter trolls slammed the star of Beauty and the Beast XXX and Breast Intentions. Hubby Kevin Moore said: “The industry wants to stick its head in the sand and just hope it all goes away.”

DAKOTA SKYE – 27

411: The chipmunk-cheeked starlet (Cougars CraveYoung Kittens 12, Lesbian Training Day 5) was discovered dead in her trailer in California following a long battle with addiction in June 2021. She died from “acute multi-drug intoxication.” Skye was bombarded with hate after lifting her top in front of a George Floyd mural. The Tampa native grew up in an alcoholic home. She wanted to be a marine biologist.

DHALIA SKY – 31

411: Sky (Barely Legal 130, Carwash Orgy 2) was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2021. Distraught, she was later discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to her head. At the time of her death, she was homeless and living in her car in the San Fernando Valley.
