Several migrants, believed to be of Moroccan origin, dove into the sea fully clothed, according to Spanish paper El Mundo.

After making their way to shore, they were chased by waiting law enforcement — and beachgoers who joined in on the pursuit.

One man in swim trunks is seen pinning one migrant down until Spanish authorities could detain him, a video obtained by local outlet Ideal shows.

Witnesses called the scenes “surreal.”

“We all stood there staring, not quite knowing what was happening,” restaurant owner Alberto Garcia told the outlet.

“We thought it was a recreational boat, but when we saw that they started throwing objects into the water and people starting to get out, we realized it wasn’t normal.”

Garcia continued: “What surprised us most was that the boat was moving very slowly, as if they weren’t in a hurry or afraid.”

He added: “They went in where there were most people, as if nothing had happened, and stopped five metres from the shore. Then they jumped off one by one, and the four remaining on board, some of them hooded, calmly turned around and left.”

Around 13 men are believed to have jumped from the boat.

According to witnesses, some of the migrants ran along the beach as soon as they reached dry land, while others tried to blend in with the crowd, which was when the sunbathers intercepted.

Local police also helped, noting to the outlet, “The lifeguards alerted us, and we managed to catch one on the street. Then we helped identify two more.”

But they added: “The Guardia Civil did the bulk of the work and managed to arrest nine.”
