CUPHOLDER
Here’s my prediction regarding the (Mitch) Marner trade: He’s going to be the next former Leafs player to win a Stanley Cup and bring it back to Toronto, probably next year.

KNEE DEEP
Re “Did Carney bend the knee to Trump?” (Postmedia News, July 1): Yes. Liberals spent the last decade seeking new ways to tax Canadians. It wasn’t posturing; he was testing taxation abroad to get new money. The man never had an original idea, he just plagiarizes others. In the last six months, (Mark) Carney took a card from (Donald) Trump’s deck and it flopped. He stole (Pierre) Poilievre’s platform and it worked. He donned Justin (Trudeau)’s jester outfit. We’ll be broke, living out of our EVs and with egg on our face when he’s through.

FISCAL FOLLIES
While the cancellation of the DST was a long-awaited event, it does raise a question about the still-missing budget. I imagine the revenue this tax was expected to raise was factored into the calculations of the M.I.A. budget. So, we now have a multibillion-dollar hole blown into our federal finances. Nice work, Carney.

EYE-CATCHING
Remember George Costanza when he accidentally sprayed lemon juice in his eye and went around accidentally winking at people? Well, Mark Carney does this, but on purpose. He should think before he winks. This may cause an international incident, Carney may end up losing his job, not that there’s anything wrong with that! (Wink.)
