Anthony Stolarz made a brief on-ice appearance on Tuesday.

The Maple Leafs goaltender has been out of action since suffering an undisclosed injury in Game 1 against the Florida Panthers last Monday.

Before the Leafs held practice at the Ford Performance Centre, Stolarz took some light shots from goalie coach Curtis Sanford to get some movement going in his crease.

The Leafs have been tight-lipped about the injury and have made no confirmation, but it’s suspected Stolarz suffered a concussion during Game 1. Before he was knocked in the head by Panthers forward Sam Bennett, Stolarz took a shot off the mask from Florida’s Sam Reinhart.

Stolarz departed before the main practice started.

“He is progressing,” Leafs coach Craig Berube said afterward. “He’s on the ice a little bit, so he’s doing much better.”

Berube said there is no date in mind yet for Stolarz’s return to game action.

With the best-of-seven series tied 2-2, Joseph Woll has played admirably in the absence of Stolarz. At the same time, Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has found footing in his game, making 23 saves in a 2-0 Panthers victory in Game 4.

Defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was absent because he was “a little sick,” Berube said. There was no indication that Ekman-Larsson would miss Game 5 of the second-round series on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Arena. In his place, Jani Hakanpaa was paired with Simon Benoit.

Berube didn’t make any changes to his forward lines at practice, though he did acknowledge he is “always thinking about” making changes. The Leafs had a fifth line of David Kampf between Nick Robertson and Ryan Reaves.
